Taking a Stand
Flexible seating, specifically adjustable stand-up desks, will give students a choice of what kind of learning space best suits their needs. Flexible seating helps students work collaboratively, communicate better and engage in critical thinking. The ability to move more keeps minds alert and focused. Students feel empowered by choice. This leads to increased student engagement, which is linked to higher motivation and overall improved academic and behavior performance. We will measure student success by surveying students on how they feel when using these standing desks, as well as keep data on student’s academic performance when using these desks on assessments. We will also collect anecdotal data during these desk’s usage. We will also use this data to measure the effectiveness of these desks as a trial.
